Semblanza Pieza

Public « Prendedero » is a set of 7 techno electronic laundry lines distributed along the public space. From each of these lighted laundry lines there is a series of items hanging, lamps, and infrared sensors that interact with the public’s movement in order to achieve a variety of sound luminic compositions.

The lighting has warm color temperature so as to bring up feelings of relaxation and harmony among the public.

The lighted laundry lines is a last century characteristic of Mexico City, it approaches how the conceptual core of trans culturization by « exporting » an element that characterizes the Mexican landscape the « laundry line » resulting from an everyday home activity, washing clothes and hanging them to dry in the sunshine ; the laundry line is an ephemeral way of bringing life color and movement to the rooftops of buildings and landscape, it is a public way of partially showing the intimacy of people. The Prendedero Público is looking to re-contextualize the meaning of laundry line by experimenting, interacting and interpreting together with the people, on the other hand the piece plays with concepts of public/private, intimacy, trans-culturization, spectator/creator/participant, architecture/human scale, and technology/innovation.
