Light Attraction es un performance de audio-luz que utiliza luces de alta potencia para dar forma al interior de un imponente prisma rectangular, translúcido. Una coreografía de masas de luz que se controla en tiempo real para poder desarrollar una narrativa dramática y de ficción. La obra también se puede presentar como una instalación.
Light Attraction se desenvuelve como una serie de escenas inspiradas por el fenómeno de la atracción que sienten los insectos nocturnos por las fuentes de luz. Esta es una metáfora para algunos comportamientos obsesivo/compulsivo en los seres humanos.
En el punto donde se reúnen una escultura de luz, el cine y un performance audiovisual, tanto en una narrativa como un medio sensorial.
Una narrativa sensorial
Light Attraction se refiere al fenómeno de la atracción que sienten los insectos nocturnos hacia la luz : su atracción instintiva e impulsiva a la luz, es con frecuencia, fatal. Este aspecto recrea un fenómeno biológico al que la ciencia todavía no le puede dar explicación.
La pieza es una metáfora de los comportamientos obsesivo y compulsivo que se encuentran en los seres humanos. De la misma manera que ciertos insectos se sienten atraídos a la luz – impulsados por sus propios instintos – los seres humanos se comportan de manera impulsiva e instintiva, sin conocer muy bien las razones que los motivan.
En una perspectiva más amplia, Light Attraction maneja el instinto: el movimiento interno que impulsa a alguien a llevar a cabo acciones inconscientes.
Igual que un insecto, la audiencia se involucra en una relación « instintiva » con el dispositivo de luz, congelado, de pié frente a la obra que ilumina y se despliega por un momento.
Esta puesta en escena de la forma pone énfasis en las propiedades de la luz, mientras que al mismo tiempo permite la presencia de una cierta narrativa. Se supone que la luz sea deslumbrante, cegadora, sostenida, difusa, sólida o diáfana. Es el efecto de la luz sobre el individuo lo que se está presentando.
De acuerdo a una interpretación intuitiva, Chantre trabaja para contar una historia con la luz que ofrece diferentes escenas que muestran el fenómeno de la atracción. La luz se esparce, busca y observa a los observadores que están fuera de ella. El cubo grande descansa, se apodera y ciega, se mueve, atrae, se expresa asimismo y fascina al espectador.
Light Attraction is an audio-light performance using high powered lights to shape the interior of an imposing, translucent, rectangular prism. A choreography of masses of light is controlled in real-time in order to develop a fictional and dramatic narrative. The work may also be presented as an installation.
Light Attraction unfolds as a series of scenes inspired by the phenomenon of nocturnal insects attraction to light sources. This is a metaphor for some obsessive-compulsive behaviour in human beings.
At the crossroads of light sculpture, cinema and audiovisual performance, this piece proposes a singular and affirmed statement on audiovisual performance, both as a narrative and sensorial medium.
A sensory narrative
Light Attraction refers to the phenomenon of nocturnal insects attraction to light: their instinctive and impulsive attraction to the light is often fatal. This aspect reenacts a biological phenomenon which remains unexplained by science.
The piece is a metaphor for the impulsive and obsessive behaviours found in human beings. In the same way certain insects are attracted to light – driven by their instincts – human beings behave in an instinctive and impulsive way, with little idea of the reasons that motivate them.
In a broader perspective, Light Attraction deals with instinct: the inner movement that drives someone to perform acts unconscious acts.
Similar to an insect, the audience engages in an "instinctive” relationship with the light device -freezing, standing in front of the work that lights up and unfolds for a moment.
This staging of the shape puts the emphasis on the properties of light, while still allowing the presence of some kind of narrative. The light is meant to be dazzling, blinding, sustained, diffused, solid or diaphanous. It is the effect of light on the individual that is being staged.
According to an intuitive interpretation, Chantre works to tell a story with the light by offering different pictures that are depicting the phenomenon of attraction. The light spreads out, seeks, and observes the observers outside of it. The large cube rests, takes over and blinds, moves, attacks, expresses itself and fascinates the viewer.

Con base en Montreal (Canadá), Chantre es un artista de New Media, Artista Visual y Compositor. Tiene interés en la diversión de símbolos culturales y fenómenos de percepciones para poder crear obras en donde se unen un universo de ficción, dramático y un ensayo. Él crea esculturas, instalaciones y performances incluyendo luz, video proyección, música e interactividad. Sus obras son coproducidas y presentadas por instituciones reconocidas internacionalmente en medios de arte.

He is interested in the diversion of cultural symbols and phenomena of perceptions, in order to create works at the junction of a dramatic fictional universe and an essay. He create sculptures, installations and performances by including light, video projection, music and interactivity. His works are co- produced and presented by renowned international institutions in media art.
